Specials & Announcements

Our summer special is working better than anyone anticipated! We will be continuing the $5 Affirmation special through August giving you 2 more months of growing sales! I am hearing from stores around the country creating workshops, special event and "readings" using this special to draw customers in.

Here is how it works:
* Order the “$5.00 Affirmation” P.O.P sign
* Order a good stock Affirmation candles from Coventry at our special summer price of $2.50 each
* Highlight the Affirmations and offer them on your store for $5.00 a piece and watch them FLY out the door.

Yup, this is a BIG discount we are offering you (23%!), but we think it’s worth it. We look at this as an investment in you, our customers. Investment in all of us “Affirming” this economy and changing fears into strengths. Even if you normally use x2.5 for your markup, key-stoning the Affirmations at $5 will help your sales every day!

When is the last time you saw a $5.00 candle of this quality and fragrance? When is the last time you saw a candle larger than a votive available to you for $2.50?

Jacki's July Journicle

Jacki SmithWhat do you do when you are not happy with your current situaion and not in a position to make an immediate change? What do you do when you know where you want to be and don't know the path to get there? What do you do when the answers are lost to you and your frustration clouds your mind?

I can start by saying to quiet your mind and think positively, but if you are in a bad space, that may be me smacked! When you are in the muck and mire of life and it's occasional dissapointments, it can be near impossible to grasp what type of positive lesson or guidance may be in that aggrivating moment. Since I don't want to get smacked, I may suggest a few candles to sooth your spiritual knots.

How in the world would a candle help? Even with it's aromatherapy effects, how is this going to solve any problems? Coventry candles are designed to create the vibration of energy needed to achieve your goals, helping you to match that vibration, thus more easily manifesting your goal. In other words, the candles help you jump over the issue at work here and get you where you wnat to go.

These issues don't go away, but give you an opportunity to work on them from a perspective that is empowering instead of dibilitating.

For when you are feeling desperate - Angel Affirmation, Spirit Guide Blessed Herbal, Angel of Guidance, Arache Invoking the Goddess, Ancestral Guidance Hoo Doo, Buddha World Magic

For when you need divine intervention - Angel of Miracles, Helping Hand Hoo Doo, Isis Invoking the Goddess, Ganesha World Magic, Miracles Blessings Kit, Goddess Affirmation.

To clear road blocks and obstacles - Road Opener Hoo Doo, Ganesha World Magic, Uncrossing Hoo Doo, Needed Change Blessed Herbal.

For when you need a miracle - Prosperity Blessed Herbal, Crown of Glory Hoo Doo, Angel of Miracles, Spell Caster Witches Brew, Kyphi World Magic.

For yourself or your customers, don't let the challenge you are facing rule you. Instead, take the authority in your life and make the change needed. Those inner enemies LOVE your pain, and love it when you wallow in it. The more pain, the more powerful they get - then you are in really big trouble.

Blessings of Joy, Abundance and Laughter.

Biz-ness Bits

There are no easy answers these days. All the rules have changed and the entire country is unsettled with no clear cut answers. The big question these days is “Are you brave enough to survive?”

This past month I attended a series of seminars on “Main Street” development where several marketing, banking and business development specialists talked about the changing landscape of the independent proprietors and small businesses.  There are several points that stood out and were repeated by many presenters.

The first point that every professional touched upon was “Buy Local”. This is a prevalent marketing concept all over the country; supporting your local market before looking to the national markets.  Reports from the 2008 holiday season confirmed that buyers want local products, handmade products, and they want to buy from companies whom directly benefit their community.

Co-operative ventures are another key to the future survival of the small business.  There is a new power that small biz owners have.  They are seen as the future and salvation of the economic forecast and the SBA is creating some aggressive programs to support them.  When several small businesses combine their marketing, buying and influence on local PR, all benefit greater than individual efforts.  Choosing your partners in these cop-operatives is a careful process and is best found networking in your local merchants association or downtown development groups.

In other words – time to get out of your store and get involved in the economic development of your community.  Roll your eyes, take a deep breath, grumble and then put on your best smile and fill your pockets with your business cards and get out the door.   Networking is the cheapest way to advertise your business, all you do is show up, have a cuppa’ joe and talk to people.  Word of mouth through businesses can bring in a new customer every day if you do it right.
When networking keep the following things in mind:

  • You are not there to sell, you are there to meet (selling comes later)
  • Let your charming personality do the talking – you are more than your business and let that come through
  • Be helpful (not a know it all) and share resources
  • Listen to what other people have to say first,  focus on them and you have a convert for life
  • Offer your business card once a connection happens – write on the back of the business card something that will trigger their memory.
  • Only volunteer what you can really commit to

Advertising starts with the networking, but don’t let it end there.  Facebook and twitter are just a few of the free networking sites.  Use as many as you can, spread the word, put up pictures of products from the store and lots of fun stores to keep people looking.  Print and radio advertising is getting cheaper and cheaper, don’t pull back on your advertising, do more.  People will come to a place that looks talks and acts prosperous and advertising sends you that message.  Call your local papers and radio stations and ask them what type of deals they have to offer you.  Co-op your advertising and get more for less cost!

One final point that was addressed in its own workshop is the importance of the façade of your store.  Just focusing on the aspects in your control, here are the high spots to look at:

  • Have clean windows including the frame and building around them
  • Clean your sign – make sure your window washers get the sign too.
  • Planned and Printed signs – hand made signs can make you look last minute and unprofessional. (this applies to inside the store too)
  • Window dressing that is vertical and horizontal – fill up the whole window and change it regularly
  • Plants, or an inviting atmosphere in the front help to draw people in

The visual marketing of your store is the first sales person you have – it is the cover of the book you are judged by.  A little investment there can increase your business by 20-30 % (based on recent studies).

These workshops gave me so much to talk about and work with in my own business.  Take a minute to visit www.mainstreet.org – there are great articles and lots of resources.

Happy selling!

July, the month dedicated to our personal Evolution.

How is our personal evolution different from the Darwinian version?  Personal evolution happens when we move unconscious feelings, thoughts and habits up and out into the light of our consciousness.  Then we can decide if what we have been identified with is the real us.  Change your mind, change your life is the catch phrase of self improvement and the law of attraction.  With personal evolution let’s take it deeper.  Let’s evaluate our story.  Do we want to continue to be the victim, the bully, the shy kid, co-dependent?  You get he picture.

Here we can learn from Olivia the Goddess of Evolution.  She will show you the power of learning how we create our outer lives from our inner world.  She wants us to gain control of the course of our lives by releasing the worries that burden us and negatively impact the materials we construct our reality with.  As you read her message, be open to the possibility that we are all changing in ways that will unlock our potential. It’s an invitation to move past what we have learned to be true and real and to make room for different perspectives on life, creation and our relationship to all that surrounds us.  Olivia’s message to us is one of adaptation for the purpose of allowing more love to flow in and out of us.  There is no place for blindly destructive patterns on the path to our future.

Olivia’s Message
Olivia Goddess of EvolutionYour evolution is about adapting to the changing you.Let me liberate you from the outdated patterns that keep you from your destiny.  (see the rest of Olivia's Message in the Healers Almanac)

Aromatherapy
By Jacki Smith

What are you doing with your bottle of Lavender?  Through mistaken broadcasters and overuse by mass marketed products, the term aromatherapy has been distilled down to refer to pleasant smells and mood enhancers.  Although accurate, the use of essential oils in a therapy setting can go much deeper, into a healing level.

Many of us stand before the essential oil display in our local health food store, even purchasing or favorite scent, but still feeling daunted in the use of the oils for their therapeutic purposes.  Essential oils used for aromatherapy purposes can easily be incorporated into everyday living to help create well-being and a healthful personal balance.

The first step to a balance and healthful self is to unwind from the challenge of daily living.  One way to achieve a calm and stress-free state is to put a few drops of Cypress, Marjoram and Lavender to your bath.  This is an oil combination that is best absorbed topically, so a bath is the optimal way to enhance their properties.

3 TIPS FOR SURVIVING AND THRIVING IN YOUR BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE

As a business coach and consultant, I’ve encountered many clients stuck in overwhelm.  So here are some tips for surviving– and thriving— in any business situation.

Tip #1.  Take action.  To do otherwise breeds frustration, anxiety and stress.  Inaction is not an option-- ever.  Not if you want to get where you’re going.  Rather, take any action that will bring you closer to your goal, even if you don’t feel like doing it.  When the fog lifts, and the anxiety passes, you want to be one step ahead of where you started… and one step closer to your goal.  You’ll feel better and will be inspired to do more.  Action breeds more action, and your job is to ensure your actions relate to the direction you want to go.

Tip #2:  Have a plan.  It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it does have to contain a start, mid- and endpoint that makes sense. You need to know which daily, weekly, and monthly activities are vital to the big picture—the original reason you took on the challenge of a business in the first place.  Do only that which serves your goal, and do not deviate from your real purpose.  It’s easy to shoot from the hip.  It’s simple, it’s seductive, but it won’t get you where you want to go.  In the end, you will work harder without getting the results you want.  You’ll be plenty busy, but not productive.  A plan will keep you on track, and focused-- the filter through which you define what’s important and what’s just noise sabotaging your day and diverting your attention.  Once you lose focus, you lose productive momentum.

Tip #3:  Play hard.  It will help you to clear your head and manage your frustration.  When overwhelmed, many entrepreneurs, business owners, solopreneurs and professionals work harder or avoid the work altogether.  Either way, not much gets accomplished.  When your life is your work and your lifeblood flows through your business, the pressures are substantial.  When you find yourself spinning your wheels and getting nothing accomplished, or paralyzed by overwhelm, take a break and play.  At whatever you wish.  Put all you have into it—your mind, heart, body and soul.  Make it the ‘only’ thing in your life for that moment.  You’ll return to work recharged, refocused, with clarity of purpose and the ability to take action.  (See Tip #1).

Living with Moon Energy
In each chapter you will have an opportunity to track your responses to the full and new moon. When the moon journeys through different zodiac signs, it has us thinking, feeling and reacting to our life in unexpected ways.  If you record what is going on with you each full and new moon, you may find that you are better prepared for they next time the moon is in that sign. Here is what may be going on for you this month.

July 18 Full Moon in Capricorn
There are always compromises to make in the work place. This full moon asks you to consider softening your stance in the current conflict.  Greater healing for everyone overall is possible.

July 3 New Moon in Cancer
It’s time to cultivate your relationship with yourself.  What is your heart telling you about who you think you are and what constitutes as home?  Focus on that still small voice behind the mind chatter and listen to what it’s saying to you about you.  Let your home reflect this in décor and atmosphere.
