Under the Services page there are many links to literature about religious tolerance.

Bizness Bits:

For whatever reason you have gone into business, opened your store and opened your life to others; you are now officially a leader. If you are like me, leadership comes not only naturally, but it is also as necessary as breathing to me. No matter where I go, I try to lead. This is a blessing and a curse – showing us that fine line between a leader and a control freak!

Leading may be instinctive for you, but it is also a skill that needs to be developed and honed over time. For the first 10+ years I was in business, I thought my instinctive leadership skills were all that I needed. I liked the struggle to learn what to do because, dammit, I break the mold! I am not only the exception to every rule; I am the maker of my own rules. Not to say I am practicing megalomaniac, however - I like to be more democratic, diplomatic and dangerous!

Although much of my leadership style was appreciated by my staff and customers, I kept running into many walls with motivating the discouraged, conflict management, and at times, consistency. See, in our own minds we are human first and leader second. In everyone elses mind you are the boss first and foremost – with little room for humanity. You essentially are the parent and teacher, with a twist – you are dealing with adults.

My last big conflict with struggling to be a leader and human at the same time inspired me to start looking for my own leadership teacher. What a gift from the divine he is! Working with this mentor has allowed me the opportunity to learn in process, really applying these lessons while someone had my back. The first thing he taught me is what leadership is.

To quote Noel Tichy from The Leadership Engine:

*Leadership is accomplishing something through other people that would not have happened if you were not there.

*Leadership is being able to articulate a set of ideas and values that support your idea. This encourages behavior that leads to execution of the ideas.

*Leadership is about energizing people.

*Leadership is about having an edge. Being able to take ideas and values, face reality and make yes or no decisions about people, investment or products.

*Leadership requires you to be willing to live without consensus.

Leadership is not just a ~Do as I say~ position. It is a precarious balance of strength and vulnerability, mastery and apprenticeship, expert and ignorance. To have all the answers all the time is to dis-empower your staff, preventing them from experiencing their won mastery and competence.

As a leader you are continually teaching – remember that you are guiding your staff and teaching them about managing themselves, their time, how your business works and your management style. When you approach issues in your business by teaching your staff how to handle the situation, you are deepening their level of knowledge, their level of commitment, and the amount of time they will commit to you can grow and flourish.

Conversely, if you sell them on the idea or needs YOU have, their levels of interaction and growth get lower and if you just tell them what to do, it sinks lower still. Although there is a time and place for just telling a staff member what to do, you need to save that for those critical times.

Brushing up on your leadership skills can facilitate your ability to take your business to the next level; it can help you find quality employees and generous investors, attract customers and give you the authority and the subject expert in your community.

Book, seminars, mentors, and advisors are all good options on your path to becoming the best leader possible. Learning to unleashing your full leadership capabilities can bring an amazing spiritual evolution to you, your business and your life. You are learning how to motivate and nurture the spirits around you, and what a blessed calling that is!

Peace, Abundance and Laughter.

Healers Almanac – August- Goddess Amanda
By Patty Shaw

In the Healers Almanac I have chosen August to be the time for reflecting on our ability to lead. Leadership is not for the select few. We are all called to lead. Get yourself ready with some guidance from our Goddess of Stewardship, Amanda. You will be glad you did.

Leadership is not just about achieving the goal; it is also about how we got there. Malfunctioning group dynamics are just as detrimental to success as conflicting outside influences. A leader, who sees herself as a steward, recognizes the importance of this and knows that the individuals in the group are working with her and not just for her. A steward is sensitive to the many levels of leadership required and has her thumb on the pulse on each one of them. She also knows the wisdom in seeking advice from her team, her peers, and her mentors. In the meditation found in the book, you will have the opportunity to meet someone who has harnessed the meaning of stewardship. She teaches us to incorporate love and compassion in our leadership styles and shows that if we pull from the strengths of the group, we are more successful and satisfied. Meet with Amanda, and let her show you the rewards of stewardship.

Amandas Message:
There comes a time in your life when you must take the lead, even if its just for a moment. Some of you may jump at the chance to be in charge while others cringe at the thought. Even the most enthusiastic leaders meet their wall of resistance. That is when I can be of service to you. I am the Goddess of Stewardship, and I am here to teach the art of leading. Leadership is an opportunity to direct a situation and work toward a specific outcome. It is also an opportunity to learn about people, especially yourself. In the role of leader, you are caregiver, decision-maker, and delegator. Inspiration and responsibility rests on your shoulders. If you take the attitude that you are the steward of the situation, you will find it easier to bring all involved into a cooperative effort. As steward, you are acting in service just as much as you are in authority. This means that you never lose sight of the importance of your team while holding the vision of the goal.

Donna Saul – Business Advisor

THE IMPLICATIONS OF LEADERSHIP
Jack Welch had it right—leadership is loaded with paradoxes. During his tenure, GM became the worlds most valuable corporation. Here is what I learned, which you can use regardless of the size of your business, or the state of your personal life. Leadership is a state of being—a term often used and described in coaching as the way in which you exist in the world—in your professional life, and your personal one.

Here is what leaders do:

1 - Leaders relentlessly upgrade their team, using every encounter as opportunity to evaluate, coach, and build self-confidence. Professionally, you have to make sure the right people are in the right jobs--support and advance those who are; move out those who are not. This also applies to your life: who gives you joy and energy, and who saps it from you. Once you determine that, the rest of the decision is easy. Coach and build self confidence in those around you. Self confidence energizes and provides the courage to stretch, take risks, and achieve beyond dreams.

2 - Leaders make sure people not only see the vision, they live and breathe it. As a leader, you have to make the vision come alive. It is an essential element of a leaders job, but only worthwhile if it is communicated constantly and reinforced with rewards. Only then does it come to life.
3 - Leaders get into everyones skin, exuding positive energy and optimism. Its all about the right attitude. Make that attitude yours. THIS NEEDS TO BE DIFFERENT – ANY IDEAS?
4 - Leaders establish trust with candor, transparency and credit. Establish trust by giving credit where its due, and take responsibility when things go wrong, and when they do not, generously pass around the praise. You do not wear a crown, just the mantle of responsibility to bring out the best in others. For that to occur, people need to trust you, so act accordingly.
5 - Leaders have the courage to make unpopular decisions and gut calls. Always listen to your gut, stand your ground. You are a leader because you have been right more than you have been wrong. So pay attention…and trust your gut.
6 - Leaders probe and push with a curiosity that borders on skepticism, making sure their questions are answered with action. Ask questions. Listen to the answers. Encourage debate. You will then get bigger and better solutions. And they will get everyone where they want to go.
7 - Leaders inspire risk taking and learning by setting the example. Surround yourself with people smarter than you are. It does not mean you can not lead them. There is an adage that says you are the average of the five people you hang around with the most. Think about it. Are you? If you want change, set the example. You will love the excitement that comes from it, and so will those around you.
8 - Leaders celebrate. Celebrating makes people feel like winners and creates an atmosphere of recognition and positive energy. Work and life can be tough, and the latter is too short not to recognize moments of achievement, including your own. Grab as many moments as you can, and make them a big deal. After all, if you do not, no one will.
There is no easy formula. Leadership is challenging, with many balancing acts, responsibility and pressure. But, really, would you prefer the alternative?

Celebrating the Season of First Harvest
By Celeste Heldstab – Pagan Kitchen

Lughnasadh is the festival of the Celtic Sun God Lugh. It is also known as Lammas from the old Hlagfmas or Loafmas, a name which comes from the fact that it is also the festival of the first of the harvest.

It used to be the case that everyone would put aside their usual occupations and join together in the harvest. The first bread baked from this became the main part of the celebratory feast. It was considered unlucky to gather the last of the harvest and so everyone would gather around the last stems, and , hurling the scythes, would work together to cut them down. Because of the way the crops were harvested many small animals would be driven from the corn and these would also make their contribution to the feast. Regrettably today they are often slaughtered indiscriminately as the great harvesting machines clear all before them.

Seek out a place where crops are being grown and see if you can pick just one or two ripe stems. If you look along the edges of fields you will often see some ~strays~ which avoids any need for trespass or walking on the crop, neither of which benefits the land nor will endear you to the farmer. Take these home and place them on your Altar. If you can find enough, weave a circle of corn to honor the season. You may also find that you can purchase ripened dried corn stalks from your florist. Whether you find or buy your corn, remember to make an offering of thanks to the land for the harvest.

Prosperity Beer Bread
Hops are twining vines with green flowers that resemble small pine cones or berries. British farmers hung dried hops wreaths in their homes for good luck and prosperity. Dried hops vines are not widely available, but beer, which is rich in hops, is. This easy recipe will bring prosperity magic into your home.
3 cups self rising flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 12-ounce can of beer
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Pour into a lightly greased bread pan and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F.
